Travel Blog ... Tulsa, OK

I was super excited to go to Tulsa last week. It didn't disappoint!

Fact: It's easy to think "oh look, someone else named Natalie has friends meeting them at the airport" when you are generally headed straight to the car rental counter. And then when you realize that there are two adorable almost 3-year olds holding the "welcome natalie"sign, you look up to see smiling Kim, who you haven't seen in almost 3 years!

Fact: The first night in a new town is more enjoyable when it's a BBQ at an old friend's house, sharing laughs with the family and a short swim in the pool at the hotel.

Fact: When the Combat Vets are having a huge "meeting", there are still rooms available at the hotel. Don't think you're going to find a parking spot though, with all the motorcycles filling the lot!

Fact: A short meeting in the morning and receiving email on your phone constitutes a day of work. 2 days in a row. :)

Fact: Lunch at Chick-fil-A and the Oklahoma Aquarium with the Wilsons is a day of fun! And the air conditioned aquarium provides a cool afternoon on a REALLY HOT DAY (think 100 degrees and HUMID!)

Fact: Dinner and Discoveryland = a post all it's own. Get excited.

Fact: A movie and lunch with the girls is the perfect end (or so I thought) to the perfect 3-day!

Fact: It is smart to double check your flight status prior to arriving at the airport and returning your rental car. I did not, and ended up stuck in Tulsa overnight again ... which was fine because ...

Fact: Spending Friday evening and Saturday morning with the Smith family was like old times ... it brought back all the fun memories from the last 19 years!

Fact: Seeing old friends does not make you miss them less. It was so good to be with Kim & family again!
